Today we are exploring how the spirit of competition can offer leaders and managers a new way to strengthen relationships among team members. From sports to sales, let’s explore how to bring out the inherent fun in playful competition. But before we begin today’s podcast, please ask yourself these two questions.
Number one, do your team members currently use competition as a way to have fun or incentivize each other?
And number two, how would you rate the feeling of connection and belonging among your team members?
Meet Our Guest
Today we are thrilled to welcome Paul Staubi. As the founder and CEO of VLTED, Paul is a seasoned entrepreneur who understands the power of connection within organizations. VLTED Explained
What is VLTED and what are you hoping to achieve?
So the lack of employee engagement really has led to lower productivity and retention for employers, which is costing the global economy trillions of dollars each year. So we set apart to develop VLTED in its platform, which is a 365-day team building program that provides a daily solution to create a sense of belonging and recognition for employees. The way we do it is we use a combination of the gamification of an enormous prediction engine that we built, combined with private secure communities for managers to create connection and common ground with their employees. We’re really confident that we will be become a manager’s best friend.
Gamefication in Action
What is it about gamification and competition that brings people together, Paul?
Well, in our research, gamification and competition can create a fun way to learn about others. It also creates a safe place to share other emotions and connection with your coworkers that aren’t work-centric. If you think about the bonds that you can build with your coworkers and how they’ll happen faster when they’re centered around gamification, and then when you add community to the mix, you create strength in numbers, which is just a powerful dynamic to improve loyalty to that community, which then will produce better productivity. But as I said before, the challenge is to do it often enough that it makes a consistent impact, rather than just a once in a while effect.
Increasing Engagement and Productivity
What do you think is the most exciting element of VLTED’s application?
For me, it’s the combination of this prediction engine with the gamification, and the fact that we give employers private, secure communities that each manager can customize to make it work, to improve employee engagement on a daily basis. Creating a culture of what matters to the employees that matters to management, it just isn’t something that can be done once a year, twice a year, or even on a monthly basis. And what gets me excited is the fact that every single day we provide the opportunity for employers and managers to connect in a meaningful way to make a real impact with their employees and engagement that will improve and increase productivity.
