#TChat Recap: It's All About Gratitude People!
Taking Thanks To The Bank
Employee engagement doesn’t have to be hard. In fact, one of the simplest ways to start engaging your fellow employees is with gratitude, which is just what we discussed last night at the ever busy, and FUN #TChat with Lisa Ryan and Teresa Andreani. How can being grateful actually drive your organization forward?
A1: We know that gratitude is important, but we don’t always realize the impact that it has on our business. #TChat

While those of us who have been on the receiving end of gratitude in business realized how important it is to thank the people who work with and for you, it seemed that just as many #TChat-ers had suffered at the hands of a nitpicky, downright ungrateful boss or coworker. And you guessed it! The work always suffers.
A1: Struggle: When we make employee engagement too complex. Just listen, give space for others to use their full talent. #tchat — Jon M (@ThinDifference) April 23, 2014
Positive reinforcements, constant communication, and frequent expressions of gratitude are all possible with remote workforces #TChat — Stephanie Susanne (@MsStephanieSF) April 23, 2014
A3: Don’t micromanage or get hung up on how work is done. Flexibility and creativity are both important for supporting engagement #tchat — HireQ (@HireQ_Inc) April 23, 2014
It sounds like a lot of the responsibility lies with leaders but employees have responsibility too.
A3 Implementing a mentoring program, job twinning or shadowing is also cost effective – Help to Develop EEs #TChat — Chantal Bechervaise (@CBechervaise) April 23, 2014
Q4: If there is an employee who is “poisoning” the department/company, help them leave the organization. #TChat — Lisa Ryan (@Grategy) April 23, 2014
#TChatters Agreed That…
- Leaders must show gratitude from the top down.
- Nothing is less expensive than a smile.
- Employees can benefit from showing gratitude too.
- Gratitude is useless when not sincere.
- Gratitude may just be the first step in becoming a better leader.
